CLUB HISTORY
The Club was founded in 1971 in West Moors as the West Moors Philatelic and Numismatic Society with meetings held fortnightly, first at St Mary's School and later at the Guide Hut. In 1984 it was decided to move to Ferndown and on 10th September the first meeting was held in the Ferndown Day Centre. Two years later the Club changed its name to the Ferndown and West Moors Philatelic and Postcard Club, recognising the growing interest in postcard collecting.
MEETINGS
Meetings are held on the second and fourth Mondays of each month in the Day Centre in Library Road off Victoria Road in Ferndown Dorset, opposite to Tesco. Free Parking is available behind the Day Centre in the evenings. Doors are open by 7.15 pm, meetings start promptly at 7.45 pm and finish at around 10 pm. Each month there is usually one evening of members' displays followed by an auction, and one evening with a visiting speaker.
Each year in April, the Club holds a Stamp and Postcard Fair in the Ferndown Community Centre, which has become one of the largest in the area. It incorporates an Interclub Competition and a large Auction.
FACILITIES
The Day Centre's kitchen and toilet facilities are available for our use and there is disabled access. Refreshments provided by the Club are free and kitchen 'duties' are arranged on a rota basis. The Club has six display frames each holding 15 standard album pages for use at evening meetings.
